Roads First - Choices Matter

CPNMD PARCEL MAP

BETTER ROADS- A SUCCESS STORY
When I began service on City Council in 2018, there was no plan to improve our roads. Prior Councils voted against the tough decisions needed to improve the roads, no-one asked for the funds other towns received, and the City was on its own. We successfully lobbied the County for contribution based on the shared use of our main roads by all. A long effort resulted in proper evaluation of road usage, shared funding from the County, grant applications for our fare share, and coordination with CPNMD water projects.
I've now done the same for improvements to the Happy Canyon interchange, and continue to fight for proper pedestrian and cycle safety in this region. But here, the effort also involved working with property owners, developers, and builders, since the new areas will result in more traffic. In addition, federal funding cannot be forgotten. The failure of our request for CDS and a RAISE grant does not mean giving up. This benefits the entire county - from Crowfoot Valley Road to Santa Fe.
Front Range Passenger Rail can be a new option for residents - as long as it does not impact the funding we need for road surfaces, or negatively impact our fine County. I fought for Douglas County to ensure that planners and power-brokers don't simply "put a dot on the map" where they think a station should go. Collaboration and fighting for residents got that "dot" removed from Castle Rock. More importantly, the funding must be a voter choice - your ballot gives you a choice about this project.
